Irma Espinosa Widow of Cortazar Obituary

A Life Well Lived

Irma Cortazar was born on January 8th, 1941 and passed away peacefully on February 28th, 2024. She received her eternal wings and joined her husband Javier Marino Cortazar, and daughter Adriana Cortazar in their eternal home. Those closest to her said that she left in the same way she lived, surrounded by prayers and the love of her family.

Irma was born in Palmira, Colombia where she lived a beautiful life filled with profound love and creating beautiful memories. Her fierce independence and timeless beauty caught the eye of her true love, Javier Marino Cortazar. She was immediately drawn to his overwhelming strength, his dedicated work ethic, and his protective nature. Marino, in turn, was enchanted by Irma's adventurous spirit, her family-rootedness, her beautiful black hair, and her dazzling eyes. The couple married in 1961 at El Señor Buen Consuelo in yumbo Colombia and had their first child, Sandra, a few years later. Irma later left Colombia and moved to New York, where she gave birth to her second child, Adriana.

Irma loved praying, going on walks with her sisters, spending time with her grandchildren, and traveling the world. She visited Hawaii, Florida, Germany, Portugal, Italy, France, and Austria to name a few. Irma is survived by her daughter Sandra Liliana Paz, son-in-law Andres Antonio Paz, her grandchildren: Edward Javier Fernandez, Sandra Liliana Landestoy, Diana Ivette Fernandez, Jose Manuel Fernandez, Gabriel Fernandez, Adriana Isabel Paz, and Irma Giselle Paz, and her great-grandchildren: Zaiden Barone, Genesis N. Landestoy, Grace M. Landestoy, Jonah A. Landestoy, Aviana Jasmine Fernandez, Ani'yah Faith Gallego, and Willow H. Landestoy. She is also survived by numerous family members.

Irma was a God-loving woman, feisty, sweet and the best grandmother, mother, aunt, sister, and friend anyone could ask for. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Thank you for brightening all the light we cannot see.
